THUMB SUCKING HABIT
Thumb sucking is a behavior found in humans, It usually involves placing the thumb into the
mouth and rhythmically repeating sucking contact for a prolonged duration
Thumb sucking generally
stops by around the age of 4 years. Some older
children will retain the habit, which can cause severe dental problems, results
in narrowing of the upper arch and a posterior cross bite increased over jet and anterior open bite malocclusion
Human infants are
sometimes considered obligate nasal breathers, but generally speaking healthy humans may breathe
through their nose, their mouth, or
both. During rest, breathing through the nose is common for most individuals.
